Nearly seven years on, the gallery represents an international roster of established artists and offers collectors, companies and institutions original works available for immediate acquisition, with expert art advisory and art leasing.
A gallery born in Porto’s art district
Tilsitt Gallery opened on 6 February 2020 with the group exhibition Pop Perspectives, five weeks before the pandemic closed the city. It stayed, and it grew. Since then the gallery has staged more than thirty exhibitions in Porto, taken its artists to Venice and to the Lausanne Art Fair, and placed works in the city’s most prestigious hotels. Founded by Flavien Guiet, an entrepreneur and collector, Tilsitt Gallery is run with one conviction: a serious gallery owes its collectors rigorous curation, verified provenance and complete transparency.
“One of the most beautiful around.”
Time Out Porto
The artists we represent
Our programme is deliberately small and deliberately international: nine artists from Asia, Europe and the Americas, each with a career that stands up to institutional scrutiny. Works by every artist below are in stock in Porto and available for sale.
Shim Moon Seup (South Korea, b. 1943) is a founding figure of Korean contemporary sculpture. He took part in the Paris Biennale (1971, 1973, 1975), the São Paulo Biennial (1975) and the Venice Biennale (1995, 2001), received an Excellence Award at the 2nd Henry Moore Grand Prize in Japan (1981) and was made Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007, the year of his solo exhibition in the Jardin du Palais-Royal, Paris. His work is held by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), which gave him a solo exhibition in 2017, the Leeum Museum, the Seoul Museum of Art, the Hakone Open-Air Museum and the FNAC in Paris. In 2026 his solo exhibition Harnessed from Nature at Ca’ Faccanon, Venice, ran alongside the Biennale; Tilsitt Gallery presents his new works in Porto in A Scenery of Time (5 November – 18 December 2026).
SEEN, born Richard Mirando (USA, b. 1961), is known worldwide as the “Godfather of Graffiti”. He began painting New York subway cars in 1973, appeared in the documentary Style Wars (1982) and the book Subway Art (1984), and exhibited alongside Basquiat, Haring and Warhol in New York/New Wave at P.S.1 in 1981. His canvases have since been shown at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (1984), the Fondation Cartier (Né dans la rue, 2009) and the Grand Palais (TAG, 2009). A 2009 canvas sold for more than three times its estimate at Artcurial, Paris, in 2012. Tilsitt Gallery holds original spray-paint canvases by SEEN, available in Porto.
Valay Shende (India, b. 1980) is a leading figure of Indian contemporary sculpture, celebrated for life-size figures built from thousands of welded stainless-steel discs. A graduate of the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, he has exhibited at Tate Modern (2006), the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (2004), MAXXI Rome (Indian Highway, 2011) and the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon, where his monumental Transit truck was shown in 2011, as well as the Kuandu Biennale, Taipei (2014), with a solo exhibition at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai.
Idan Zareski (France, b. 1968) is the sculptor of the Bigfoot Family, figures with oversized feet that speak of roots and belonging. His monumental resin and bronze works have been installed at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden (2012), the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille (2013), the Miami Design District (2014), the Giardini della Marinaressa in Venice (2019), Knokke (2020), Porto Montenegro (2021) and Hillsborough Forest Park, Northern Ireland (2022), and shown at Art Miami, Scope and ARTBO.
Beto Gatti (Brazil, b. 1986) makes bronze and resin sculpture at the meeting point of Pop, street culture and the digital age (Toy Art, Sapiens 2.0, Fucking Ego). He was commissioned to create a work for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, has exhibited at Art Basel Miami Beach week (2018), ArtRio and CONTEXT Art Miami (2023), presented the solo show A Origem at Rio de Janeiro’s RIOgaleão airport (2024–25) and installed monumental public sculptures in Rio and Niterói in 2025.
Ritchelly Oliveira (Brazil, b. 1993) paints charcoal and oil portraits in which flowers, birds and negative space carry the sitter’s emotion. Trained at the Federal University of Goiás and featured by IGNANT in 2017, he has lived in Portugal since the early 2020s and signed an exclusive representation contract with Tilsitt Gallery in 2024. The gallery has given him the solo exhibitions Cartografias da Afetividade / Vulnerabilidades (2025) and Becoming (2026), and placed his work at the InterContinental Porto and Maison Albar.
Mario Henrique (Portugal, b. 1983) is the Cascais-based painter of the Somnium and Ballerinas series, a “spontaneous realism” of drips, splashes and palette-knife strokes. A graduate of the Lisbon Faculty of Fine Arts and a former creative director, he has had solo exhibitions at Casino Lisboa (2016), Grace Denker Gallery, Hamburg (2017), Art Village Gallery, Memphis (2018), Corno Gallery, Montreal (2019) and Galerie des Sens, Caen (2020), with group shows at Bill Lowe Gallery, Atlanta, and the Biennial of Arts, Brasília (2016).
Pau Escat (Spain, b. 1984) paints minimalist abstract landscapes in pigment, ink and gold leaf on cotton canvas, each named after a natural site (Tarkine, Sinharaja, Erawan). Based in Barcelona with a studio in Menorca, he founded Escat Gallery in 2024 and exhibits at Art Madrid 2026. His works sell out quickly on the international market; Tilsitt Gallery keeps a selection available in Porto.
Gabriela Lukschal (Brazil, b. 1988) paints a “surrealism of memories” that draws on Japanese painting, science fiction and anime, often in reworked antique frames, and creates commissioned series after long conversations with each collector. Tilsitt Gallery introduced her to Portugal with a duo exhibition with Beto Gatti at the InterContinental Porto in 2021.
