Intimidade I (Intimacy I) shows a woman resting her hand lightly against her cheek, her gaze turned out of the picture, while a white dove settles at her throat and another rises behind her head. The portrait is set against a warm yellow ground and presented in a dark wooden frame.
Part of the Intimidade series, the work brings Ritchelly Oliveira’s recurring vocabulary close to the face: skin and feathers are drawn in charcoal with great precision, and the dove at the throat reads at once as tenderness and as pressure. The flat colour ground removes any setting, leaving the gesture to carry the image.
Unique work, charcoal and acrylic on canvas, 100 × 60 cm (39.4 × 23.6 in). Born in Brazil in 1993 and trained in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Goiás, Ritchelly Oliveira has worked with the human figure since 2012. His work has been exhibited in Goiânia, Berlin, Miami, New York and Los Angeles, including the solo exhibition Fragility at La Brea Studio in 2023, and has appeared in international art publications such as Beautiful Bizarre.
