NYC Street Splash, 2021

NYC Street Splash, 2021 is an original spray on canvas by Richard Mirando, known globally as SEEN, the graffiti writer.

This distinct variation introduces an intense chromatic palette, contrasting bright turquoise brick masonry with warm yellow stencil blocks and fine spray splatter. An aerosol can with a vivid blue cap anchors the center of the painting, crossed by SEEN’s fluid signature tag in jet-black spray paint, executed without pause or hesitation.

The dialogue between the slow, multi-layered background and the swift velocity of the tag encapsulates the craft of New York wildstyle writing. A leading figure of the United Artists crew since 1973, SEEN’s work forms a central pillar of twentieth-century urban art history, documented in Subway Art and the film Style Wars.
