NYC Street Splash, 2021

NYC Street Splash, 2021 is an original large-format spray on canvas by pioneering New York graffiti writer SEEN (Richard Mirando).

Standing as the widest composition in the series at 66 centimetres across, this work develops an expansive urban panorama. The background combines warm red exposed brick, atmospheric paint splashes, and a stencilled “I ❤️ NY” skull emblem beside the central aerosol can. Across this rich architectural ground, SEEN discharges his signature hand tag in bold black spray paint, executed in one continuous, confident stroke.

The juxtaposition between the hours required to construct the textured wall and the instantaneous execution of the tag exemplifies the core philosophy of New York subway graffiti. With an active career dating back to 1973 in the Bronx and archival recognition in Subway Art and Style Wars, this framed canvas represents a major studio statement by the “Godfather of Graffiti.”
