Le Siffleur is the whistler of Idan Zareski’s Bigfoot Family, cast here at 31 cm in saturated resin polished to a mirror finish. The pose is the most relaxed of the whole family: weight on both legs, hands tucked away, chin lifted, mouth pursed. He is going nowhere in particular, and he is in no hurry to arrive.

Then there are the feet. Bare, several times the size they should be and splayed flat on the ground, they anchor the figure so completely that the ease above them stops looking like idleness and starts looking like security. Zareski has used this exaggeration across the Bigfoot Family for years as a sign of origins and rootedness: whatever else separates people, everyone stands on the same ground.

The high-gloss surface takes colour the way lacquer does and throws the room back in curved reflections. Le Siffleur XS is the collector format of a family that also exists at monumental scale in public spaces across several continents. Limited edition, supplied with a signed certificate of authenticity.
