Human Rights presents a primate-like human figure embracing a globe with an almost protective intensity. Body and world are fused into a single compact gesture: the figure does not merely hold the planet, it seems to cling to it, in an image that can be read at once as care, dependence, possession and responsibility.
The warm red bronze patina gives the figure a physical, almost ancestral presence, while the golden continents make the globe immediately legible as a shared world. Within Gatti’s practice, the sculpture echoes his recurring concerns with the human condition, roots and our relationship with the Earth; the title adds a social and ethical register without fixing a single reading, opening onto questions of dignity, coexistence and collective responsibility.
Cast in 2021 in an edition of seven, this is edition 1/7. At 40 cm high, it has the presence to anchor an interior while remaining easy to place in a home, office or hospitality setting.
