Fucking Ego

Fucking Ego presents a bronze human skull altered by two large circular ears. The hybrid silhouette is immediately legible: anatomical realism collides with the visual language of mass entertainment and collectible culture. Across the forehead, the hand-cut words “FUCKING EGO” interrupt the solemnity of the skull with a deliberately abrasive, contemporary voice.

The bronze gives the sculpture weight, permanence and a patinated, almost archaeological presence, while the ears introduce humour and a Pop-inflected visual hook. Playful at first glance, existential on closer inspection, the work turns ego itself into the subject: the skull reduces identity to mortality, and the inscription questions the way we perform the self.

Cast in 2020 in an edition of five, this is edition 3/5. At 24 cm high, it works as a focal piece on a console, pedestal, desk or library shelf.
